What If

What if fireworks were banned in the United States? I will address this hypothetical scenario below.

If all fireworks were banned in the United States, and no more products could get into the country legally, there would be severe consequences. One impact of this decision would be an economic drop. The fireworks industry provides thousands of jobs, along with generating billions of dollars in revenue each year. Removing fireworks from the country would remove those jobs from the economy, and lose out on large amounts of tax revenue. This could have sever consequences on the United States economy. Another impact of the ban would be the development of a black market of fireworks. People would smuggle the products in and sell them for a premium to high paying customers in the country. Also, law enforcement would have to take care of any issues regarding fireworks. Law enforcement would have to act on smuggling rings of products, inspect incoming vessels to the country, and pursue possible illegal dealers of the products. This would be an extreme waste of time for law enforcement. Instead of actually protecting the streets and preventing real crime, they would have to pursue people buying and selling fireworks. This would be a waste of tax payer dollars. So the decision would have massive implications regarding taxes. It would decrease tax revenues for federal and local governments, along with wasting current tax payer dollars on the enforcement of the ridiculous ban of fireworks. I think people would much rather have their tax dollars spent on law enforcement making the streets safer rather than police pursuing fireworks dealers.
